In recognition of this thorough assessment, HDO has also been granted active membership by Give2Asia, a charity organization in the USA. In 2009 a group of well-educated and social scientists of southern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and FATA set together with aim to escape the poor people of this region from diseases, poverty, ignorance and numbers of problems and issues. The inhabitants of the area are living low standard of life due to lack of access to basic needs such as education, health, clean drinking water, proper sanitation and skill development, It undermines their capabilities, limits their opportunities to secure employment, results in their social exclusion and exposes them to exogenous shocks. The vicious cycle of poverty is accentuated when the governance structures exclude the most vulnerable from the decision making process. In this backdrop the founding members of HDO started thinking solutions of these issues through enlightened vision and mission along with standard operating procedure to improve the quality of living standard of deprived, vulnerable and marginalized communities. HDO began its operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as a multi-mandate organization, working for both longer-term development opportunities as well as supporting the most vulnerable communities in times of humanitarian crises. Since its establishment, HDO has worked across southern part of KPK and ex-FATA even in the time of volatile situation of extreme extremism. HDO engages with private sector partners, government, and local communities to promote poorest and vulnerable community especially women’s economic empowerment and child rights with a particular focus on community based Education, Health, Nutrition, Environment, Agriculture Development, Governance, Capacity Building, Gender Equality, Advocacy entrepreneurship development, financial inclusion and increasing employability skills. Our approach goes beyond a singular focus on income generation to holistically promoting empowerment by focusing on strengthening poor community especially women and children’ rights. Community Organization/ mobilization and Human Resource development are the key tools for sustainability and valuable working of Human Development Organization. HDO has strong presence in southern part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. HDO has ample outreach to the target group, civil society, academia, private sector local government institutions and relevant officials in the proposed geographical location.
